The Dutch government recently announced that it would recognize the OPT (Gaza Strip and West Bank, including East Jerusalem) as the official birthplace of Palestinians born there after May 15, 1948, subsequent to the end of the British Mandate and the establishment of the State of Israel. While the Netherlands does not recognize Palestine statehood, it now acknowledges the OPT as a Palestinian birthplace, for the reason that it does not recognize Israeli jurisdiction in these locations.
